Veronica Parkin

Operations Manager and Quality Manager

I am the Operations and Quality Manager at IVP. I went to work in pathology while still studying applied science at QUT. I have worked in the pathology industry now for 15 years.

I took a short break from pathology in 2008 and did a short two year stint working in Dubai as an Executive Assistant in the interior design and facility management sector. It was an amazing experience.

Among previous positions, I have been involved in startup laboratories, successfully implementing operational and quality systems to enable excellent pathology service.

I love making a difference in people’s lives, I pride myself on doing everything possible to ensure that our clients can trust that their specimens are in safe and caring hands.

Outside of pathology, I love to travel and explore other cultures, reading and going to the beach. When I am not at the beach, I spend time with my three cats, Buddy, Bear and Bounce.

Denise Curtis

Business Development Manager

I have worked in the health industry for 26 years. My background is largely in nursing, until 9 years ago when I entered the wonderful world of sales and marketing within the pathology sector. From here I moved on to business development, which allowed me to combine both my nursing and sales & marketing knowledge.

Working at Independent Veterinary Pathology (IVPath) as the Business Development Manager and managing the Sales team is allowing me to explore and grow with the company which is very exciting and it is stirring up some innovative and not so innovative ideas and the odd brain storming, over thinking get nowhere nights; but I would not have it any other way.

As a child we had dogs, cats and dad was a fanatic with his tropical fish. As an adult, I was fortunate to have 14 years of loyalty and love from my dog Beau, whom is and will always be the oldest grandson in the family (a bit of family fun but true). A few years passed, when last year we rescued a cute little black Shih tzu called Max. We have gone from him being an outside dog (lasted 1 day), to now having his own spot in the lounge room and recliner of his choice. He has trained us well.

Gavan van der Wal

Territory Specialist WA

I have over 35 years experience in both public and private sector pathology, with a degree in Laboratory Medicine from Curtin University in WA, and post-graduate qualifications in leadership in healthcare from ACU Canberra. I initially majored in Histopathology and Cytology, spending the first half of my career in laboratory operations, then gravitating to business development and marketing.
I have always enjoyed the personal interaction with clients, and working for such a dedicated group of people within the Independent Veterinary Pathology family is most satisfying.
At home we have a delightful Cocker Spaniel called Pilot, two cats (Snuggles and Lola) plus 10 seahorses living in a 400 litre reef tank.
